Maintaining a home takes a fair amount of work. There are daily tasks like loading the dishwasher, and then there are more intense chores that involve more time, such as clearing out the fridge or cleaning the windows. All of these tasks ensure proper maintenance of the home.

Even if you have a set cleaning and tidying schedule, you might still miss some areas. That means the task only becomes more tedious, time-consuming, and even costly in the long run. So, to ensure every nook and cranny of your home is in its best condition, don’t forget about maintaining the following six areas.

1: The Garage

People often neglect their garages because they don’t go in them that often. Unfortunately, that can lead to a range of problems. For example, your garage might get cold, damp, and cluttered if you leave it too long without a good cleaning.

Pay special attention to the garage floor, especially if you keep a vehicle there. If you notice the floor isn’t up to scratch, installing high-quality garage floor tiles is an excellent solution. They are durable, high-quality, and easy to install. Plus, they protect the concrete floor underneath, ensuring you don’t have to fix and repair the underneath because of a heavy vehicle. Of course, your car will look great on it, too!

2: Blinds

When was the last time you cleaned your blinds? Many people remember to dust surfaces but often forget about the blinds. The problem is that blinds accumulate dust over time, which might make you sneeze.

To clean your blinds, you can get a specific blind-cleaning duster to do the job. It’s better than using a regular duster, as it fits between each individual blind.

3: Light Fixtures

Much like blinds, light fixtures often go too long without dusting. Run your finger along one of your light fittings, and you will probably see a ton of collected dust! To ensure that doesn’t happen in the future, include dusting light fixtures in your routine chores.

4: The Dishwasher

Many people assume the dishwasher stays clean because it cleans dishes. However, that’s not the case. Over time, grime, grease, and chemicals can build inside, leading to unpleasant odors and germs. To prevent that, put white vinegar inside and put the dishwasher on a hot load (without any dishes inside). Doing this regularly will keep it nice and clean.

5: Kitchen Cabinets

Many people forget to clean their kitchen cabinets because they have food already sitting there. It’s crucial to wipe those cabinets down from time to time, though, as dirt and bacteria can build up. Do it at least once a month to keep your kitchen space clean and tidy.

6: Behind the Toilet

You likely thoroughly clean your sink, toilet, shower, and bathtub. After all, plenty of germs live in the bathroom! The question is, do you put the same effort into cleaning behind the toilet?

While it’s not as easy to clean behind the toilet, plenty of germs and bacteria grow there, so it needs cleaning regularly. If you have not done it in a while, use white vinegar to wipe it down, and then finish by mopping the floor around the toilet. The next time you clean your bathroom, make sure you don’t ignore it!
